Most of our counselors are not in network with insurance panels for many different reasons. But, we realize that many of our clients can benefit from being able to use their insurance coverage. So, our office can provide clients with a superbill for them to submit directly to their insurance company for reimbursement.

What is a Superbill?

A superbill is a type of invoice that our office can provide to you for you to submit to your insurance company for direct reimbursement. This means that after you pay for your session, we will email you a document that includes the services you received as well as all the other information your insurance company needs in order for you to use your out of network benefits. You then email/fax/submit the superbill to your insurance company and, depending on your out of network coverage, they will mail you a check or direct deposit reimbursement for your payment of our services.

What are my out of network insurance benefits?

We can look up a summary of most insurance plans to provide you with an estimate of your out of network insurance coverage. You can also call your insurance company (the contact information is usually on the back of your insurance card) and ask them what your out of network coverage is.

For example, consider your counselor charges $150 and your out of network coverage is 50% of cost of service. You would pay the full $150 fee directly to us after your session, we would provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance company, and they would directly reimburse you $75 (50% of $150). Each insurance plan has different out of network coverage so it is useful to know what you may be reimbursed before submitting the superbill so you do not run into unexpected charges. We provide all clients with a  Good Faith Estimate before services begin to prevent our clients from being surprised by any billing issues.
